Chairman’s Welcome 2019

Firstly, I would like to offer thanks to everybody involved in what was very successful 2018 season, and look forward to meeting returning players, both seasoned pros and new players alike. We have seen growth within the club, starting with Academy, supplying more players into the seniors, more ladies representing both Spalding as well as their respective age groups within the County, as well as the number of youngsters participating has increased, from Mark Laud, and Academy helper’s success with the ‘All Star’ to the Academy Coaches who helped develop our next batch of cricketing superstars.

We welcome Chris Dring on board as President. Those who know him know he works tirelessly within the club, from training within the Academy to donning his whites for whichever team may need him. His knowledge around cricket shall be called on regularly I am sure.

The baton also passes to Jonathon Miles for the first team captaincy, and I am sure his quality shall help the young senior in their development.

The Sunday team shall continue with its policy of youth being captained and managed on a joint venture by Jonny Manton and Brandon Andrews

As a club we must not rest on last year’s achievements, but strive to improve, both on and off the pitch, as well as providing a better environment for the players to excel in. With that in mind, I would ask that anybody who can spare 5 mins to volunteer, please offer your services to your relevant team manager. The management structure of this club is made up by a few who provide so much time and effort to make this club work.

I personally, would like to thank Andrew Cook, for his recent stewardship as Chairman, and I know I shall have his ear whenever need.

Let us now hope for summer weather similar to last, so we can enjoy lazy afternoons, wandering around the boundary chatting and enjoying the cricket.
