Spalding Ladies team was started in 2012. In the beginning they had 7 members. Progress was steady but the women were very enthusiastic to learn and had a fantastic spirit. In the second year of the Ladies team, the squad grew from 7 to 14. The word was spreading that ladies cricket was growing in Spalding! This continues to be the case today.

2013 would prove to be a big year for the ladies. As ability and technique improved, the need for match practice became necessary; and the ladies played their inaugural game in June against Hampton Ladies. More matches followed and more and more of the ladies went on to play games for the Senior Mens 2nd team and 3rd team!

The 2014 season was even bigger for Spalding CC Ladies as they entered the Lincolnshire Womens Cricket League for the first time. Not only did they compete, but went all season losing only one league game, and ended joint champions with Louth! A fantastic effort for all involved that truly reflected not only the work ethic of all the players, but the great atmosphere within the team. Even with the strength in depth and a lot of ability, the mind-set still isn’t changing and the ethos of ‘we play to enjoy the game’ is still strong.

The team have remained in the Lincolnshire Womens Cricket League since 2014, doing the club proud, finishing runners up in 2015 and 2016. More recently, they have joined forces with Long Sutton Ladies and for the 2018 season will play under the banner of ‘South Lincs Ladies’. Together, they are now looking forward to the 2018 season and aspire to improve on the high standards they have set over the past few years!
