Welcome to the 2015 season and what an exciting few months we all have ahead of us! We look back over the last few years and everyone should be delighted with the progress.
Our first team had a slightly better season and remain in the Lincolnshire Premier League. Rob Ambrose continues as Captain and Tim Norris will be Vice-Captain. The second eleven have a huge season this year. Promotion in 2014 under the leadership of Steve Norris has elevated them into the South Lincs and Border Premier Division. This new challenge is taken up by the experienced team of Mike Kearns Snr, assisted by Simon Juckes. We wish them the best of luck!
The third team held their position in League 2 and continued to integrate all sections of the club – using many players from the youth teams and ladies team. Considering the number of players used we should not be disappointed with results. Development has always been our main reason for three teams and development is what we have seen from many members of the third team. It goes without saying that the improvement we are seeing from these players is great for the club!
The newly formed ladies team entered the league for the first time, with dedication and commitment from players and coaches they finished joint top – a fantastic achievement for all involved.
Notably, the most important factor for STCC is that players are now getting county recognition across all age groups and genders. This is a testament to club development and reward for all the coaches who give their time freely throughout the year. Keep up the good work everyone!
Important Homepage Information:
Toward the bottom of our homepage you will find our Club Calendar which will contain dates and times of matches, training sessions and social events. Every effort will be made to keep the calendar up to date. If you have any information that needs to go onto the Calendar, please contact Mike Kearns Jnr at email@example.com . On the right hand side at the top, you will find links to our club shops where you can Buy Kit for the 2015 season. You will also find a link to Spalding Town CC articles on The Spalding & South Holland Voice, a link to our Play-Cricket site, and a link to our Photo Gallery which will be located on Facebook for the time being. Further down the sidebar you will find a link to our EasyFundRaising page (for those who aren’t familiar with EasyFundRaising, please have a look at the link and how you can support the club at no extra cost!).
There are several new features on the website aimed towards making things easier for players, parents and supporters. A couple of these are listed below.
1. Problem – Getting lost going to the ground!/ Sat Nav or GPS takes me near the ground but not to the ground!/ keep driving past the ground without knowing where the entrance is!
Solution – Under the ‘Seniors‘, ‘Ladies‘ and ‘Juniors‘ tabs you’ll find fixture lists for each team including an address for each ground entrance and a map link (little red cricket ball). The address/ postcode given here may not always be the ‘official’ address/ postcode of the ground, but will be the address needed to put into your Sat Nav/ GPS/ Goodle Maps and find the ground with as little hassle as possible. Further to this, if you click on the red cricket ball beside each fixture it will take you to a custom made map of the ground (highlighting the location of the main entrance to each ground, the pitch and the changing rooms).
2. Problem – I want to see how the other teams are getting on but can’t get to the ground to find out/ Instead of looking at multiple websites or social media sites for information, I’d prefer it if as much information as possible could be found on one page.
Solution – On the ‘Match Day‘ tab you’ll find; a live Twitter feed and Instagram feed for #SpaldingTownCC, an ECB live scores widget showing updates from county and international games and a MetOffice weather widget including rainfall radar (or ‘Saturday Morning Storm Tracker’ as it might soon become known). We are also currently looking into the possibility of adding certain information from play-cricket. [NB: This is by no means a complete solution however we hope that with your support and feedback we can develop this exciting new area and make it something to be proud of!]
