Welcome from the Chairman

Preparations are now being made for the 2017 season which promises to be a busy one. Winter training is now under way with sessions for all age groups taking place every Sunday at Spalding Grammar School. All are welcome, details are shown on the diary.

This season we see our first team make a welcome return to the Lincolnshire Premier League, with Rob Ambrose once again at the helm, our second team will take their place in the South Lincs and Borders Premier Division. We say good bye to two of our club committee members and captains in Mike Kearns (Snr) and Richard Gilbert whom have stepped aside from their respective roles of 2nd and 3rd team Captains, Mike to have a breather and Richard due to a career move that takes him out of the area. I thank you both for the time, dedication and efforts you have both put in for the club over many seasons and look forward to seeing you around during 2017. Matt Gill has stepped up to Captain of the 2nd team and we wish him well in this as he has a hard act to follow, but I am sure he won’t disappoint.

The ladies team continues to progress and in 2017 will be looking to become the bride and not the bridesmaid as in the previous two seasons in the Lincolnshire Women’s League. They will once again be under the captaincy of Hayley Jones whom will be as determined as ever in her leadership.

2016 saw a welcome return of a Sunday team competing in the Rutland league, the side very much a development team with the guidance of some of our seniors. 2017 will see the team under joint captaincy of two of our junior members, Josh Lawrence and Jonny Manton.

The clubs junior academy continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of Academy Director Mark Laud, ably assisted by his group of dedicated coaches, whom give up their time so selflessly week after week. Last year saw some great individual performances throughout the junior section and some amazing collective team performances. A big well done to all academy players that have gone on to play senior cricket last year – an impressive achievement. A BIG shout out to the mini Under 9 team that went unbeaten throughout the 2016 season – well done boys and girls. Finally, congratulations to those juniors boys and girls that are currently with their County or Regional squads, you are a credit to your club and to your coaches.

We wish all of our teams well for the coming season and the challenges that will be presented. Whether you are playing within the junior or senior ranks or indeed for our ladies, remember we are one club and wear our badge with pride!

Lastly a big thank you to all of our sponsors past and present, we couldn’t manage without you and achieve the success we have on the field, THANK YOU!
